Frequently Asked Questions

What measures are in place against earthquakes?

Inquiry ID:OpenFAQ-001716 Latest Update:2017/01/20

In consideration of lessons learned from past earthquake disasters, tunnels, viaducts and buildings above ground are designed to be adequately quake-resistant. We are also conducting reinforcement work to further strengthen seismic resistance.
If an earthquake occurs, the seismometers installed along railway lines detect strong tremors and trains will stop immediately as a safety measure. For details, please refer to the “Handy Safety Guide.”
