Can I use a credit card to purchase a regular ticket?

“You may use credit cards to buy commuter passes and the Tokyo Subway Ticket*, which is a special ticket for travelers.”

 

* Eligible customers

(1) Foreign travelers visiting Japan

(2) Customers that have traveled from a station between Atami Station and Hakata Station to Tokyo Station or Shinagawa Station, using “Express Reservation” or “SmartEX,” which are members-only online reservation services for the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen.  

Customers that are registered for these services may buy the Tokyo Subway Ticket at select commuter pass ticket counters.
